When Horror Folklore Fest Dhaka 2025 was first announced, the excitement was explosive. Social media was buzzing, horror lovers were counting down the days, and the community hoped this would be the event that finally brought something bold and different to Dhaka.
And on 28 November 2025, the gates of Tokyo Square Convention Center (TSCC), Mohammadpur opened to reveal a world of darkness, folklore, and carefully crafted fear.
But the big question remains:Did it actually meet the expectations?Or did the hype overshadow the experience?Let’s dive into what really happened.
The horror-themed special zones were designed to be the core attraction—and they were impressive.
Dim lights, sudden sound cues, eerie ambience… everything worked together to create tension.
However, the overwhelming crowd made it hard to experience the fear fully.
Many attendees said the zones felt more like “walking queues” than immersive horror rooms.
Still, when the timing was right, the scares landed well.
Cosplayers absolutely stole the show.
Some came dressed as demons, ghosts, witches, and full cinematic monsters, turning the convention center into a moving horror parade.
This segment exceeded expectations and proved once again how passionate Dhaka’s cosplay community truly is.
Folklore Meets Modern Horror: A Unique Blend, Lightly Explored:
The event promised a fusion of Bangla folklore and international horror—and while it was present, many attendees felt that the cultural depth could have been pushed further.
We saw:
Shakchunni,Ghost from Call of Duty,Ghost from scream series ,Death note characters and many more
Modern horror themes
But the sections were smaller than expected.
Good concept, but not fully utilized.
Live Performances:
No debate here—the live storytelling, horror dance performances, and theatrical acts were the festival’s highlight. Kira’s laugh from death note was spot on. Full death note representation was praised by many audiences. These moments grabbed the audience’s full attention and created real atmosphere.Several performances sent shivers through the hall.
The art, crafts, and collectibles were genuinely impressive. Cymbaline,Sacred Rituals, Miffys Town,Knotty wool , live horror themed make up sessions, potion making and many more stalls made the event more engaging.
But the number of stalls felt lower than what the pre-event hype suggested.
Those who love horror merchandise still found rare pieces to take home, making this section a modest but valuable addition.

So… Did It Meet Expectations?
Partially. The event succeeded in introducing something fresh, bold, and culturally rich to Dhaka. It provided memorable scares, visually stunning setups, and lively performances and also the whole dark foggy theme was amazing.
But it also struggled with:long waits between performances, less engagement, slightly underdeveloped thematic sections, some storytelling sessions which no one were listening to and made made many of the audience bored, many audience left before the event ended because of long breaks of nothing happening, people were more interested with taking pictures with the horror themed cosplayers. Still, for a first attempt at a fully horror-themed festival, it managed to spark excitement and prove that Dhaka’s audience is ready for more daring, genre-specific events.
Final Verdict: A Promising Start With Room to Grow
Horror Folklore Fest Dhaka 2025 wasn’t perfect but it opened the door.It showed how hungry people are for something different, something theatrical, something outside the usual cultural events.
If the organizers return with a stronger, more spacious, better-paced edition next year, this could easily become one of Dhaka’s most anticipated annual festivals.
Dhaka wanted fear.
And for one day, the city embraced it—crowds, screams, and all.
